Major IT infrastructure upgrade results in happy pets

The Challenge

Due to rapid growth and future plans Independent Vetcare had a requirement to upgrade their existing IT Infrastructure. With the head office and 160 remote surgeries operating within varied opening hours the smooth implementation of this project was critical to avoid disruption to both customers, surgeries and internal administration systems.

Due to the nature of this project Independent Vetcare required a supplier that could illustrate understanding of; technical requirements, organizational workflows and the need to be flexible around individual surgeries operating hours.

The Solution

Independent Vetcare selected Flair 4 IT for this project, who had been providing IT helpdesk support to the organisation for over 3 years. This meant that they had a detailed understanding of the existing IT Infrastructure but, they were also able to illustrate their expertise in terms of technical capability and understanding of requirements.

Working with the Independent Vetcare a detailed plan was provided that fitted not only with existing work processes but, with varying surgery operational hours, contingencies were also planned so that should a roll back be required the steps required were clear to all.

During the substantial infrastructure upgrade the following was completed by Flair 4 IT:

  • Installation and set up of a new server based on Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V
  • Upgrade of the existing Exchange Server to 2013
  • Implementation of a new Hybrid Exchange Online/Exchange 2013 solution to manage email including archiving all user mailboxes
  • Implementation of a new online backup and disaster recovery

Following the successful completion of this project Flair 4 IT are now providing IT helpdesk support to an increased number of users and surgeries across the Independent Vetcare network.
